I had a good experience with the LXM questionnaire. The questionnaire had mind blowing questions that challenged me to assess myself from a point of a follower. I must say that even though I did my best in answering the questions as honest as I could, in some of the questions, I feel that I was biased. I think that if another person could have evaluated me using the same quality essays questionnaire, my score could have varied slightly. However, I did my best and I was able to assess my leadership style. Of all the leadership theories and style that I have studied the LXM questionnaire was the best. I had a chance to reflect about my leadership from the perceptive of the followers. I enjoyed the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire. It is a questionnaire that helped me to evaluate my transformation leadership style. Although answering some of the questions was challenging, I still managed to answer all the questions as honest as I could. However, I still feel that I was biased in some of the responses that I provided.
The responses in both questionnaires are a true reflection of my leadership philosophy. I believe in participatory leadership and the responses in both questionnaires reflected my participatory leadership. I’m a personality who believe in empowering the followers and I’m more concerned with the welfare of my followers. The Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire scores shows that I sacrifice my interests for the welfare of the group interest. I also work towards helping the other members of my group to advance and develop their strengths. These are some of the important factors that define my leadership. Through participation, it is easy to effect transformation in the organization. I scored 25 in the Leader-Member Exchange. This is an indication that I am a leader who is more concerned about the relationship with the followers. It shows that the LXM is one of the focal points of my leadership. In addition, I’m a leader who believes in communication as one of the most important elements of leadership. The results of the questionnaire have clearly showed that I value communication.
Some of the most surprising responses in the Leader-Member Exchange questionnaire is the response eon question 3 on whether the followers recognize my ability different from expectation, I scored 2 in the questionnaire. Although I value my followers a lot and I involve them in the organization processes, they do not fully recognize my potential. The most surprising response in the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire is the response on management by exception. In this questionnaire, I found that I did not keep a good track of all the mistakes. This was very surprising because I always take long to forget a mistake that I did or even the wrongs that were conducted by other people.
The characteristics of the Multifactor Leadership theory are of great importance in my leadership. They have inspired me to understand and try to adapt to the motives of the followers in my leadership style. Another important characteristic of the theory is the emphasis on values I have learned the importance of embracing moral values in my leadership. Some of the characteristics of the Leader-Member Exchange that are important to my leadership is the collaboration between the leaders and the followers as a way of achieving the goals of the organization. This is very important in my leadership.
The above characteristics are very important in promoting effective leadership. They have helped me to be a transformative leader who is willing to change the status quo. Furthermore, these characteristics have emphasized the importance of collaboration with the followers as one of the most important elements in leadership. Through this collaboration, it will be easy to lead the followers and achieving the organization purpose with ease.
