Spherical roller bearings have a spherical outer ring raceway in the outer ring.
The spherical raceways of the inner and outer rings engage with
a spherical roller. Spherical roller bearings can carry combined
loads and can transmit axial and radial loads either separately or
simultaneously. These bearings can be designed to withstand
high radial loads, high axial loads or both simultaneously. In
addition, these bearings have a very high capacity for handling
misalignment. The spherical roller bearings are free rolling
elements with a spherical outer ring raceway in the centre of the
bearing. They are intended to be mounted between two shafts
which have a close running fit on the inner and outer rings. The
rollers bear on the spherical raceways of the inner and outer
rings, respectively. The spherical roller bearings can
accommodate combined misalignment and angular movement in
one direction. However, they cannot absorb any misalignment nor
angular movements which are present in more than one
direction. It is very important to choose the right bearing
manufacturing company for all your bearing solutions.
Mechanism:
Spherical roller bearings are used to guide or support rotating
or reciprocating shafts. The bearing consists of two rows of
cylindrical rollers that are supported by the cage on both sides.
The rollers are round sections made of chrome steel with balls
running on their outer surface. The axes of the rollers are
mutually perpendicular and form an angle of 30 degree with the
plane formed by the axes of the shafts. There are several
different types of bearings. They range from simple rolling-
element bearings to the extremely complicated spherical roller
bearings mechanism. Generally, different types of bearings are
used depending on the application and machinery is very
important for supporting infrastructure. Rotating element
bearings are stationary in the direction of the shaft’s rotation,
but they rotate along with it. They are used to convert either
rotational or linear motion into the other. The most common
types of rotating element bearings are ball, cylindrical roller,
needle roller, tapered roller, spherical roller, and sleeve
bearing. We should also know the importance of dust lip seal
in running the bearings effectively.
