Vanilla Ice Net Worth is quite huge like his successful career. Vanilla Ice, also known as Robert Matthew Van Winkle, is an American actor, rapper, and television host originally from Dallas. He achieved great success with his debut album 'Hooked' in 1989. After that, he signed a contract with SBK Records, a subsidiary of the EMI Group, and went on to release his 1990 single 'Ice Ice Baby', which became his first hip-hop track to reach the top of the Billboard charts.

 

Early life:


Dallas, Texas, is the place of Vanilla Ice's birth on October 31, 1967. His mother was initially married to a man named Van Winkle when he was born, but they got divorced when he was just four years old, and he never had a relationship with his biological father. Later, his mother remarried a car salesman and he spent his childhood moving between Dallas and Miami, where his stepfather worked.


At the age of 13, Van Winkle discovered break dancing and became interested in the emerging hip-hop scene. His friends gave him the nickname Vanilla Ice, as he was the only white person break dancing at the time. Although he didn't initially like the name, it eventually stuck. He started participating in rap battles under the stage name MC Vanilla and also formed a break-dancing group called The Vanilla Ice Posse while he was in Texas. It was at the age of 16 when he wrote his famous hit "Ice Ice Baby."


After graduating high school in 1985, Vanilla Ice participated in motocross competitions and won three championships. He even contemplated pursuing a career in the sport, but his interest waned after he broke his ankle during a race. While his ankle was healing, he used the downtime to hone his dance moves. He started beatboxing and break dancing as a street performer in malls.


Career:


To kick start his career, Vanilla Ice formed a break-dancing group called 'The Vanilla Ice Posse'. He was invited to perform regularly at a nightclub in South Dallas, where DJs D-Shay and Earthquake accompanied him during his performances.


After recognizing Vanilla Ice's potential, the nightclub  owner he regularly performed at signed a contract with him in 1987. Vanilla Ice's debut album featured the hit single 'Ice Ice Baby', which gained him a massive fan base. A music video was also created for the song and aired on several television channels. The success of his debut album led him to sign a contract with SBK Records, where his song 'Hooked' was remixed.


In 1990, Vanilla Ice released another album called 'To the Extreme', which featured new music. The following year, he released his first live album, 'Extremely Live', which reached No. 30 on the Billboard 200 chart. Since then, Vanilla Ice net worth raised to a great extent.
